DIANA VREELAND

Yesterday we went to see the play of Al Galope and we loved it, we recommend it. It is a play based on the life of Diana Vreeland, editor of the Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue publications. The text, in monologue format, is Vreeland's portrait at a turning point in his life, when he returns to New York after four months of traveling through Europe, passing through Madrid.

In 1961 Diana Vreeland was part of the committee of wise men who advised Jackie Kennedy to cover herself with a cape in her first presidential dance. Two decades later he would send photographer Richard Avedon to the top of a mountain in Japan to immortalize a white cape of cashmere. In the middle of his trip to Europe, Vreeland visited us and took one of our layers.

You can see Al Galope, starring Carme Elias, until December 6 at the Spanish Theatre.
