Casa Seseña at Carolina Herrera’s Show in Madrid Spring Summer 2026

When Tradition Walks the Runway

Casa Seseña at Carolina Herrera’s Show in Madrid

Since 1901, Seseña has been designing and crafting capes that have traveled the world. Our creations have graced the shoulders of icons such as Pablo R. Picasso, Luis Buñuel, Ernest Hemingway, Federico Fellini, Hillary Clinton, Jeremy Irons, Catherine Deneuve, Jane Fonda, Paloma Picasso, and members of the Spanish Royal Family, among many others.

More than a century later, we continue to handcraft in Madrid our signature capes for men and women who appreciate garments as distinctive and timeless as the Spanish cape — in both its classic and contemporary interpretations. Our mission remains unchanged: to preserve the art of traditional tailoring and to share its enduring elegance with new generations.

A Dialogue Between Tradition and Modernity

On September 18, 2025, Casa Seseña had the honor of collaborating with Carolina Herrera for her fashion show in the heart of Madrid, presenting the Spring–Summer 2026 (SS26) collection. The event celebrated the spirit of Madrid and the timeless elegance that unites both houses, blending haute couture sophistication with artisanal authenticity.

Alongside Casa Seseña, several distinguished Spanish brands known for their craftsmanship and creative excellence — including Palomo Spain, Sybilla, Andrés Gallardo, and Levens — took part in the show, representing the vibrant energy and artistry of contemporary Spanish fashion.

This collaboration carried a special significance for us: both Carolina Herrera and her husband, Reinaldo Herrera, have been long-time clients of Casa Seseña. In 1977, Reinaldo was famously photographed by Robert Mapplethorpe wearing one of our capes — an image that has since become an icon of refined elegance and dandy charm.

Several of the pieces presented on the runway paid tribute to that same spirit — a homage to Reinaldo Herrera’s classic sophistication and to the aesthetic legacy that continues to inspire the Carolina Herrera universe.

This collaboration symbolizes the meeting of two worlds: the century-old tradition of Seseña and the global vision of contemporary fashion. Our capes, entirely handcrafted in our workshop on Calle Cruz in Madrid, stood as living proof of the artistry and dedication that have defined Casa Seseña for over 120 years.

The Capes on the Runway: Heritage and Creativity in Motion

Among the pieces personally chosen by Wes Gordon were three of our most emblematic designs, which, on this unique occasion, took to the Plaza — the heart of Madrid — demonstrating the versatility and contemporary relevance of the Spanish cape.

  • Baltic – A design that unites creativity and heritage, symbolizing the balance between innovation and tradition. Its presence on the runway reaffirmed the timeless power of craftsmanship in a modern context.
  • Paloma – One of our most elegant creations, inspired by the strength and artistry of Paloma Picasso, a dear friend and client of Casa Seseña. Its design celebrates individuality, character, and creative spirit.
  • Beijing – A piece that embodies how Seseña’s elegance transcends borders while remaining deeply rooted in Madrid’s identity. A modern interpretation of the Spanish cape that speaks of universality and sophistication.

Each of these capes carried the soul of our craft: fine fabrics, precise tailoring, and exquisite finishing — the result of more than a century of artisanal expertise.

Living Tradition, Timeless Future

For Casa Seseña, this collaboration was more than a fashion moment — it was a celebration of Spanish craftsmanship and its enduring relevance. The cape, a symbol of distinction and grace, continues to find new audiences and contexts without ever losing its essence.

Our partnership with Carolina Herrera reaffirms a simple truth: what is classic is forever contemporary. Our capes continue to evolve, reinventing themselves while remaining faithful to their identity.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire Carolina Herrera and Puig teams for inviting us to be part of such a remarkable occasion — the presentation of the Spring–Summer 2026 collection.

It has been an honor to participate in a project that unites history, creativity, and emotion in the very heart of Madrid.

At Casa Seseña, we will continue to work from our historic workshop with the same devotion that has guided us for over a century — creating capes that warm not only the body, but also the story and soul of those who wear them.

Wes Gordon Visits Casa Seseña

In the lead-up to the show, we had the pleasure of welcoming Wes Gordon, Creative Director of Carolina Herrera, to our workshop in Madrid. Marcos Seseña — fourth-generation director of Casa Seseña — greeted him personally and guided him through every step of our process: from fabric selection to the meticulous craftsmanship through which each cape takes shape.

It was a meeting marked by mutual admiration and respect — a dialogue between two houses united by a shared passion for excellence, elegance, and attention to detail. For the Casa Seseña team, it was a true honor to open the doors of our atelier and share the essence of our craft — a savoir-faire that continues to live in every stitch.
